A2P 10DLC Brand Registration: What to File and Fixes
Carriers check your business against IRS records. File the legal name exactly as the IRS has it, use the field formats carriers accept, and correct a rejected brand instead of filing a new one.
Updated . Fees and wording match what Out Nurture files.
The brand is your business's identity in A2P 10DLC registration: legal name, tax ID (EIN), business type, address, website and an authorized contact. The Campaign Registry checks it against IRS and other public records. Most brand rejections are a mismatch with those records or a badly formatted field, and both are fixed by correcting the same brand.
What you file
- Legal business name, exactly as the IRS has it. Copy it from your EIN letter (the IRS CP 575 notice or a 147C letter). If the name runs over several lines on the letter, use every line above the address (Twilio).
- EIN (federal tax ID).
- Business type and industry. The industry comes from a fixed list; pick the closest entry.
- Business address with a two-letter state code ("CA", not "California") and a 5-digit ZIP or ZIP+4.
- Website that belongs to the business and works.
- An authorized contact: name, job title, business email and a mobile number written with the country code (+1 for the US).
Why brands get rejected
| What happened | The fix |
|---|---|
| Tax ID doesn't match the legal name | Make the name match the EIN letter word for word, including "LLC" or "Inc." |
| A field was the wrong format | Two-letter state, 5-digit ZIP, phone with +1, no spaces in the ZIP |
| The EIN is new | New EINs can take 30 to 90 days to reach the databases carriers check (Twilio). Wait, or ask for a manual review with the EIN letter. |
| Details already used by another brand | Each brand needs its own phone number, email and tax ID |
| Nonprofit, government or public-company status couldn't be confirmed | Check the business type, and that the name and address match official records |
Correct it, don't file it again
- Edit the rejected brand and resubmit it. Filing a new brand is charged again ($4.50); correcting the same brand isn't.
- A brand can be corrected 3 times. Fix everything the rejection names at once.
- When the records are right and the brand still fails, support can ask for a review by hand with your EIN letter. That usually takes 5 to 7 business days (Twilio).
Sole proprietors
A business with no EIN registers as a sole proprietor brand, which carries one phone number and a low sending limit. A business with an EIN registers as a standard brand, even if it is one person (Twilio). Out Nurture files standard brands only, so you'll need an EIN.
Secondary vetting
Secondary vetting costs $41.50 once and gives the brand a trust score. The score only raises your daily limit above 2,000 message segments a day to T-Mobile, so a business sending less than that can skip it. Out Nurture skips it.
